The Jamaica Data Protection Act 2020 (DPA), the country's first comprehensive law regulating the collection, use, storage and transfer of personal data was passed by the Jamaican parliament in June 2020 and became fully operational on 01 December 2023.

The DPA applies to all organisations handling personal data, including foreign entities that process the personal data of individuals located in Jamaica with the office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) operating as the supervisory authority.
